On July 28, China’s Ministry of Science and Technology, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, and the All-China Federation of Trade Unions jointly held a conference on the development of innovative enterprises. At the conference, the first batch of 91 “Innovative Enterprises” was announced and officially recognized with certificates. Qizheng Tibetan Medicine was listed alongside nine other pharmaceutical companies. As the only ethnic medicine enterprise to undergo a two-year pilot program, Qizheng Tibetan Medicine successfully passed the national assessment and became the first company in the pharmaceutical sector across the five northwestern provinces to receive such recognition.
In July 2006, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, and the All-China Federation of Trade Unions launched a pilot program to build “innovative enterprises.” The first batch of pilot enterprises included 103 companies, among them the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation. Qizheng Tibetan Medicine became the only ethnic medicine enterprise among the 12 pharmaceutical companies selected for the pilot program.
The national initiative to build innovative enterprises, after a two-year assessment period, has demonstrated significantly enhanced innovation drive, a substantial increase in R&D investment, markedly strengthened innovation capacity building, growing mastery of independent intellectual property rights, steady growth in revenue from new products and labor productivity, and continuous expansion of overall economic size. Enterprises that ultimately meet the evaluation criteria for innovative enterprises will be officially designated as the first batch of “National Innovative Enterprises.”
