At 7:49 a.m. on April 14, 2010, a magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck Yushu County in the Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Qinghai Province, causing severe losses to the lives and property of local residents. The All-China Women's Federation earnestly implemented the directives issued by the Party Central Committee and the State Council, issuing an urgent notice calling on women’s federations at all levels to align their thinking and actions closely with the central authorities’ plans and requirements, adopt effective measures, and unite and mobilize women across the board to make their due contributions to earthquake relief and rescue efforts.
Group members—including the All-China Federation of Trade Unions Women’s Committee, the China Association of Female Science and Technology Workers, the China Association of Female Photographers, the China Association of Female Judges, the Women’s Work Committee of the China Old Revolutionary Base Area Development Promotion Association, and the Women’s Talent Specialized Committee of the China Association for Talent Research—have enthusiastically responded and actively participated in donation activities at their respective workplaces, extending their heartfelt support. Among them, the National Association of the Young Women’s Christian Association of China, the China Association of Female Entrepreneurs, and the Women Entrepreneurs Chamber of Commerce of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce swiftly made arrangements and issued calls to action, urging sisters to step up, actively respond, and join their workplaces in providing assistance to the people affected by the Yushu disaster and in supporting the reconstruction efforts in the disaster-stricken areas. The Women Entrepreneurs Chamber of Commerce of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce has actively organized its members and entrepreneurs to make donations; as of the time of this report, total donations have reached 3.45 million yuan.
