Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine
On the afternoon of April 15, the Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine established a leading group for the treatment of earthquake victims from Yushu Prefecture, Qinghai Province, under the leadership of hospital officials. The group comprises a medical rescue team, a medical treatment expert panel, a publicity and political work team, a logistics support team, and a transportation team, with clearly defined responsibilities for each group.
The hospital ambulance, upon receiving a 120 dispatch order, immediately headed to the airport to transport patients from the disaster area. The orthopedics and general surgery departments promptly rearranged 50 beds to prepare for the reception of injured victims from the earthquake-stricken region. The outpatient clinic swiftly established a green channel for treating earthquake casualties and assigned highly skilled medical staff to take turns on duty. Furthermore, the hospital made additional arrangements to address issues such as the dietary habits of residents in the disaster area and the accommodation of family members of the injured.
On the afternoon of April 16, the hospital sent five volunteers to the Provincial Youth League Committee and, accompanied by medical supplies and medicines worth 15,000 yuan prepared by the hospital, rushed to the disaster-stricken area of Yushu in Qinghai to provide medical assistance. It is understood that this medical volunteer team also brought along a special “mysterious prescription.” “This prescription was jointly developed by a group of renowned veteran Chinese medicine practitioners and we believe it will prove highly effective in the disaster zone!” Duan Junguo, Party Secretary of the Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, pointed to a densely packed prescription for Chinese herbs and told reporters that this particular prescription had already been used successfully during the rescue efforts for victims of the Wenchuan earthquake—“at that time, hundreds of thousands of people benefited from it, and the results were excellent.” This time, the veteran Chinese medicine practitioners have made appropriate adjustments to the prescription to suit the unique high-altitude conditions of Yushu. The Chinese medicinal materials listed on the prescription can be sourced locally in Yushu itself. “We’re confident that the revised prescription will play a significant role in various aspects, including treating injured victims, combating altitude sickness, and preventing epidemics after the disaster,” Duan said.
Mianyang City Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital
On April 14, the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Mianyang City, Sichuan Province, received an urgent notice from the Municipal Health Bureau and immediately assembled four professional medical personnel to join the city’s first medical rescue team for departure.

On the same day, the hospital held a donation drive for the Yushu earthquake-stricken area. All hospital staff generously contributed, with total donations reaching nearly 30,000 yuan for the earthquake-hit region.
Yunnan Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine
On April 14, in accordance with the requirements of the Provincial Health Department, Yunnan Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine allocated all its available small splints to the first batch of rescue medical team from Yunnan Province. On the morning of April 15, following the unified deployment of the Yunnan Provincial Health Department, the hospital promptly assembled a rescue medical team that would depart together with the second batch of Yunnan’s rescue medical team at 6 p.m. on the 15th, heading straight for the disaster area. The hospital’s medical team consists of Li Fanbing, associate chief physician of the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology; He Weiyong, operating room nurse; Yang Hua, emergency department nurse; and drivers Chen Shirong and Xiang Aihua, along with an ambulance. The team is fully equipped with all necessary rescue equipment and medications.
Luzhou Medical College Affiliated Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine
Immediately after the earthquake struck Yushu County in Qinghai, the Affiliated Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Luzhou Medical College in Sichuan promptly established a disaster relief leadership group, which set up six functional teams. The hospital also issued an appeal to all young staff members, calling for volunteers to join the rescue efforts in Yushu.
At 5:30 p.m. on April 16, the hospital received an urgent notice from the Communist Youth League Committee of Luzhou City, requesting that it dispatch medical volunteers to Yushu for earthquake relief efforts. Thus, the first medical team—comprising three physicians from pediatrics, orthopedics, and general surgery—was formed to head to Qinghai for disaster relief. Immediately afterward, the hospital meticulously prepared medical equipment, medications, and essential supplies worth over 20,000 yuan for the team and arranged a dedicated ambulance to transport these supplies from Chengdu to Qinghai.
Gansu Qizheng Tibetan Medicine Co., Ltd.
