Recently, Qizheng Tibetan Medicine released its seventh Social Responsibility Report. Attentive readers will notice that, for the first time this year, the company introduced the concept of “Internet Plus” in its social responsibility management. This marks the second time the company has expressed views related to “Internet Plus,” following its initial announcement in September last year during investor engagement of a three-step plan to develop e-commerce.
Qizheng Tibetan Medicine is a Tibetan pharmaceutical enterprise originating from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. For the past 20 years, the company has been dedicated to the ethnic medicine and health industries, using an industry-driven approach to promote the upgrading and transformation of the traditional Tibetan medicine sector while firmly upholding the inheritance and development of Tibetan medicine. Lei Jufang, Chairperson of the company, stated that as a field uniquely blending traditional medicine with modern scientific principles, Qizheng’s exploration never ceases—how to preserve and pass on this ancient culture, and how to integrate the spirit of modern science and technology.
The company believes that over the next five to ten years, as China’s healthcare reform continues to deepen and the “Internet Plus” initiative brings tremendous opportunities to the pharmaceutical industry, coupled with the new normal of economic and social transformation, corporate social responsibility practices will increasingly revolve around key principles such as innovation, sharing, green development, transparency, inclusiveness, and globalization. The “Internet Plus” initiative presents significant transformative opportunities for the entire pharmaceutical manufacturing industry and will also profoundly influence and reshape Qizheng’s approach to sustainable development and its practice of social responsibility. Deepening the fulfillment of social responsibilities will become a crucial discourse and entry ticket for Qizheng’s sustained growth in the vast Chinese mainland market—and even for its participation in the global health-care and medical market.
In recent years, driven by the “Internet Plus” wave, various industries have been actively exploring and embracing internet-based business models. In the pharmaceutical sector, there are already quite a few listed companies strategically positioning themselves for “Internet Plus.” Last September, during an investor briefing, the company indicated that its e-commerce strategy would unfold in three stages: first, establishing robust internet distribution channels by partnering with collaborators to set up stores on Tmall; and ultimately, building its own specialized, vertically integrated e-commerce platform. Currently, the first stage of this plan is well underway.
