[China Entrepreneur Network] — Hosted by China Entrepreneur Magazine, the most influential annual gathering for women in business in China—the 2013 (5th) China “Business Mulan” Annual Conference—was grandly held on May 18 at the Wanda Sofitel Hotel in Beijing.
Lei Jufang, Chairperson and General Manager of Tibet Qizheng Tibetan Medicine Co., Ltd., participated in the sub-forum on "Women in Business" and delivered an inspiring speech. In her view, it is particularly important for women to embody the virtue of "the highest excellence is like that of water," and they should play a greater role in fostering inclusivity.
The following is a transcript of Ms. Lei Jufang’s inspiring remarks:
I think it’s extremely important that women should embody the virtue of “the highest good is like water,” and play an even greater role in fostering inclusivity.
I believe the era of women-led entrepreneurship has arrived. First, after so many years of openness, I feel that a very solid foundation has been laid.
Second, in today’s era, our overall market share is expanding, and the available space is greater than ever before.
Third, our foundation is stronger than ever before. Today, women have higher levels of education, and resources are more abundant than in the past.
I arrived in the Tibetan region of the west 20 years ago. When I first set foot in Tibet, it was a place that felt incredibly distant and unfamiliar. But once I went there and began to explore, I realized that right there, in a place so foreign to us, the very things we hadn’t yet discovered—those gaps in our own knowledge and understanding—suddenly became vividly clear.
Because I’ve seen that in Tibet, they rely entirely on natural, purely herbal remedies for treatment. Due to inconvenient transportation, ordinary people—indeed, the vast majority of the population—actually use relatively natural and organic methods to alleviate their ailments. They even employ herbal medicines that are completely non-toxic, using them to treat fractures and rheumatoid arthritis. Suddenly, I felt that our decision to dedicate ourselves to this cause was truly worthwhile.
After more than 20 years, I believe this was the right choice. When I first saw that region and its people, my first reaction was one of awe; the second was a deep desire to carry forward their essence. Third, thanks to our modern technological tools and knowledge, we’ve been able to innovate—not in an effort to fundamentally alter things, but rather to build upon and advance contemporary public services. As a result, this has become the primary source of our listed company’s performance, and it’s also sustainably viable.
We modern people face many health challenges, such as high blood pressure and diabetes. That’s why we’ve made this choice—and we’ll work hard to achieve it—hoping to bring greater improvements to our employees and contribute to a healthier society. Thank you.
