During the 12th Five-Year Plan period, national policies, coupled with factors such as population aging and the rise of the middle class, will continue to drive rapid growth in China’s healthcare market. The development of the healthcare industry will be centered on innovation and structural adjustment. In terms of therapeutic areas, the proportion of drug use across various treatment fields is increasingly aligning with that of developed countries; specialized medications and drugs for chronic diseases will become key drivers of future growth.
From the perspective of market segmentation within the healthcare industry, large hospitals in major cities still represent the largest segment. However, county hospitals and community health centers are experiencing the fastest growth and are set to capture half of the market share. Therefore, for both industry players and individual companies, correctly selecting the right market segments, achieving substantial scale, and gaining a leading position in key segments are crucial to success.
