On the 16th, the Gansu Provincial Institute of Modern Pharmaceutical Engineering for Traditional Chinese Medicine was inaugurated and established in Lanzhou.
To integrate outstanding talent and advanced research facilities in the field of Chinese medicine research in Gansu Province, and under the organization of the Gansu Provincial Development and Reform Commission, Gansu Qizheng Tibetan Medicine Co., Ltd., the National Engineering Research Center for Solid Dosage Form Manufacturing Technology of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Gansu College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Gansu Agricultural University have jointly established the “Gansu Provincial Modern Pharmaceutical Engineering Research Institute for Chinese Medicine.”
It is understood that the research institute has been registered as a legal entity and operates under a joint-stock cooperative model with enterprise-style management. Its primary activities include research on germplasm resources of Chinese medicinal materials, as well as the application and development of new products, new technologies, and new processes in the field of traditional Chinese medicine. Leveraging the strengths of leading enterprises, the institute will establish a pilot-scale research platform to transform scientific research findings into new productive forces, thereby enhancing Gansu’s R&D capabilities in the field of traditional Chinese medicine and promoting the region’s economic and social development.
Yang Shilin, director of the Gansu Provincial Institute of Modern Pharmaceutical Engineering for Traditional Chinese Medicine, introduced that in the three years following the institute’s establishment, in addition to completing platform construction, the institute will focus its efforts on four key areas: in-depth development of Gansu’s advantageous medicinal materials, secondary development of existing products by Gansu-based enterprises, in-depth research and development of pharmaceutical preparations used in Gansu’s hospitals, and talent cultivation as well as engineering and technical consulting services for the industry.
Yang Shilin stated that the establishment of the research institute will help Gansu Province break through bottlenecks in the development of the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) industry, promote the building and nurturing of a high-caliber TCM talent pool, serve as a bridge for technological exchanges between domestic and international TCM research institutions, and enhance the cultivation and processing technologies for authentic Chinese medicinal materials. It will also explore ways to deeply develop and utilize these resources, thereby facilitating Gansu’s transformation from a “major resource province” of Chinese medicinal materials to a “major industrial province.”
