The 2016 National People's Congress Deputies and Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Members’ “Voices and Responsibilities” symposium was solemnly held at the Beijing Guobin Hotel. Eight NPC deputies and two CPPCC members participated in E-Pharm Manager’s news interview room, which was linked live to the main venue’s keynote speech. In the news interview room, the ten deputies and members were direct and sharp in their remarks. Let’s start with one question today: “In 2016, what change in China’s pharmaceutical industry are you most looking forward to?” E-Pharm Manager will present more thoughtful and substantive responses from the deputies and members in subsequent reports.
Ren Wuxian, Chairman of Shanxi Yabao Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd.:
I look forward to the National Medical Products Administration accelerating reforms in 2016 and issuing detailed implementation rules for the evaluation of drug consistency, thereby promoting improvements in drug quality.
An Kang, Chairman of Henan Hualan Biological Engineering Co., Ltd.:
I hope that in 2016, technological advancements will drive our industry forward—this is my first wish. My second wish is that 2016 will mark a turning point for the biopharmaceutical sector, allowing it to achieve substantial progress thanks to the 13th Five-Year Plan. Perhaps our company, Hualan, will also be able to ride this wave of growth.
Lu Chunyun, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Taizhou Pharmaceutical High-tech Zone in Jiangsu Province:
I look forward to seeing a better and more flexible pharmaceutical policy environment that will promote the rapid and healthy development of China’s pharmaceutical industry, ensuring that it not only grows in quantity but also excels in quality.
Guan Yanbin, Chairman and President of Heilongjiang Sunflower Pharmaceutical Group:
The one thing I most want to say is this: the spring of Traditional Chinese Medicine has arrived. In this spring, let us spread our wings and fly higher and farther—bringing health to China and to the world through our country’s time-honored traditional Chinese medicine.
Xu Jingren, Chairman of Jiangsu Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group:
My view is that in 2016, our reforms need to be bold and pioneering, yet also somewhat cautious. Now that reform has reached this stage, the central authorities are striking the right balance. We hope that under the leadership of General Secretary Xi, we can all carry out our work effectively.
Zhao Dongke, Vice Chairman of Shaanxi Dongke Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.:
I look forward to the healthy development of our industry and believe that we should have a more relaxed environment in many aspects.
Liu Wenwei, General Manager of Tianjin Daren Tang Jingwanhong Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.:
There’s a wealth of positive news for the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) industry, and we’re eager to seize this opportunity and do our part—fulfilling our due share of effort and responsibility—for the development of TCM in our motherland.
Geng Funeng, Chairman of Sichuan Haoyisheng Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd.:
In 2016, my greatest hope was that the country’s policy and management systems across all sectors would become relatively stable, regulatory oversight would be strengthened, reform efforts would be intensified, and—complementing the Premier’s statement that traditional Chinese medicine is a strategic asset for our nation—we would finally see a true springtime for our pharmaceutical industry.
Liu Qun, Chairman of Chongqing Tiansheng Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd.:
I wish the pharmaceutical industry and the traditional Chinese medicine sector even better development in 2016, and I hope our healthcare reform will achieve breakthrough progress.
Lei Jufang, Chairperson of Qizheng Tibetan Medicine Group Co., Ltd.:
My biggest heartfelt thought for 2016 is this: As businesses, we must innovate; and as policymakers, I believe the country needs to provide very pragmatic and realistic support for enterprise development while paying close attention to the medical well-being of ordinary people.
