As an important component of traditional Chinese medicine, Tibetan medicine is a treasure of Chinese civilization and is hailed as one of the most comprehensive and influential forms of ethnic medicine. It has made significant contributions to the survival, growth, and prosperity of the Chinese nation. Over the years, Tibetan medicine practitioners across the region have remained true to their original aspirations as healers and embraced their mission of safeguarding health. They have achieved remarkable results in areas such as improving and perfecting the Tibetan medicine service system, enhancing Tibetan medicine’s capacity for disease prevention and treatment, strengthening Tibetan medicine talent cultivation, boosting scientific research and innovation capabilities, promoting the integrated development of the health industry, and preserving and carrying forward Tibetan medical culture. These efforts have played a vital role in ensuring the health of people of all ethnic groups and in fostering Tibet’s economic and social development.
Tibetan medicine actively draws on the outstanding achievements of Western and traditional Chinese medicine, becoming increasingly modern and open. The Tibetan people’s recognition and appreciation of Tibetan medicine are steadily growing. Like tsampa and butter tea, Tibetan medicine is readily found in the homes of farmers and herders throughout the Tibetan areas. As the birthplace of Tibetan medicine, the region boasts a profound Tibetan cultural heritage, coupled with the high level of trust and remarkable efficacy of Tibetan medicine itself—factors that have led to its growing popularity both domestically and internationally in recent years.
Qizheng Tibetan Medicine carries forward the millennia-old tradition of Tibetan medicine while simultaneously pursuing the modernization of the Tibetan pharmaceutical industry. As a leading enterprise in China’s topical pain-relief market, Qizheng adheres to the spirit of steady and sustainable development inherent in Tibetan medicine, supporting Tibetan medical masters in writing and publishing their works, establishing heritage preservation bases, and sponsoring six private Tibetan medical schools. Through collaborative partnerships between universities and enterprises, Qizheng actively cultivates talent in Tibetan medicine. Guided by innovation, Qizheng has applied for national key R&D projects and published nearly 500 post-marketing studies in both domestic and international specialized academic journals. Ranked 31st on the “2022 Top 50 Chinese Traditional Chinese Medicine R&D Strength List,” Qizheng has firmly laid the foundation for the Tibetan pharmaceutical industry’s expansion into both domestic and international markets. Upholding continuous improvement of standards, innovation in dosage forms, evidence-based medical research, validation using high-quality real-world clinical data, construction of core medicinal herb cultivation bases, and wild conservation efforts, Qizheng has achieved multi-dimensional success.
Having been honored alongside leading Tibetan medicine experts in the region, Qizheng Tibetan Medicine will continue to grow and strengthen its enterprise, making even greater contributions to the development of Tibetan medicine in Tibet—and indeed, to the advancement of traditional Chinese medicine nationwide.
