Recently, the "2nd European Corporate Social Responsibility 2020 Summit" was solemnly held in Brussels, the capital of Belgium. As a representative of Chinese enterprises, Qizheng Tibetan Medicine was invited to speak at the forum, sharing its practical experience in developing industries and fulfilling social responsibilities in ethnic minority regions under the broader context of the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as its efforts in biodiversity conservation.
The “Belt and Road” initiative proposed by the Chinese government has drawn attention from European society. At this summit, themed “Corporate Social Responsibility along the Belt and Road,” a special forum was dedicated to the topic, during which three companies—including Qizheng Tibetan Medicine—delivered keynote speeches.
Feng Ping, Vice President of Qizheng Tibetan Medicine, explained that the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, where the company is located, is one of the regions with the richest biodiversity in the world—and also one of the most ecologically fragile. The company has undertaken biodiversity conservation efforts in this region primarily through four key areas: first, conducting thorough resource surveys; second, optimizing production processes to enhance the efficiency of medicinal herb utilization; third, practicing sustainable procurement at the place of origin; and fourth, carrying out research on cultivation techniques and building dedicated cultivation bases.
Meanwhile, Feng Ping noted that Europe has already established a relatively well-developed framework for corporate social responsibility. Driven by multiple stakeholders—including governments, enterprises, civil organizations, and research institutions—awareness of sustainable development has permeated businesses at all levels, from multinational global corporations to small neighborhood restaurants. The concept of sustainable development has become seamlessly integrated into business operations everywhere. A long-lasting enterprise is one that organically integrates its own development with social responsibility. Qizheng Tibetan Medicine’s 20-year corporate journey has been guided by the principle of sustainable development, and its achievements are the result of continuous investment in key social responsibility areas such as cultural heritage preservation, technological innovation, resource conservation, and employee development.
Feng Ping believes that on platforms for international business exchanges, sustainable development is becoming a common, global language, enabling enterprises from different countries to recognize and acknowledge each other’s efforts in this field.
The conference, hosted by CSR Europe—the European Association for Corporate Social Responsibility—is the most prestigious and professionally specialized gathering in the field of corporate social responsibility in Europe. Nearly a thousand participants attended, including European Parliament President Schulz, Belgian King Philippe, representatives from globally renowned multinational corporations and social responsibility organizations, as well as experts and representatives from non-governmental organizations.
