On September 28, the list for the "15th China Listed Companies Value Selection" was announced. Qizheng Tibetan Medicine once again won the "China Listed Companies Social Responsibility Award," thanks to its efforts in promoting folk Tibetan medical education in ethnic regions, supporting and advancing rural healthcare in Tibetan areas, practicing biodiversity conservation on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and demonstrating outstanding performance in combating the COVID-19 pandemic. This marks the second consecutive year that the company has received this honor since the award was established in 2020.
This value-selection event is hosted by Securities Times, co-organized with special support from Caitong Securities, and undertaken by eCompany and the China Capital Market Research Institute. It aims to identify a group of benchmark value investors that are leading the way in the capital market. The selection process adheres to the principles of scientific rigor, objectivity, and fairness, following a strictly standardized and scientific procedure. It employs both quantitative and qualitative methodologies to analyze, compare, and calculate various financial and investment-related indicators of listed companies, while also taking into account the assessments made by industry experts on corporate governance and financial performance.
Folk Tibetan medicine education meets the health-care needs of people in ethnic minority regions and is crucial for preserving and promoting Tibetan medical culture. Since 2004, when Qizheng Tibetan Medicine fully funded and built the Gongbu Manlong Yutuo Tibetan Medicine School in Nanyigou, Linzhi, Tibet, it has consistently paid close attention to and supported folk Tibetan medicine education. As of the first half of 2021, Qizheng Tibetan Medicine had cumulatively supported six folk Tibetan medicine schools, and the total number of students who have graduated from Tibetan medicine schools founded and sponsored by the company has reached 5,118.
Qizheng Tibetan Medicine has donated and established Tibetan medicine clinics in remote communities in Tibet and Qinghai, providing convenient, affordable, and effective medical services. In 2008, the company launched a special public welfare initiative called the “100 Tibetan Medicine Clinic Program.” To date, it has donated to and supported a total of 20 Tibetan medicine clinics in Tibet and Qinghai provinces, earning widespread trust and popularity among local residents.
As of the end of 2020, Qizheng Tibetan Medicine had cumulatively invested 136 million yuan in social welfare initiatives—including healthcare, education, and poverty alleviation—in Tibetan areas and western China.
The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is one of China’s regions with the richest biodiversity. However, some exploitative harvesting practices targeting Tibetan medicinal resources have led to a gradual depletion of certain medicinal species, placing them at risk of extinction. Qizheng Tibetan Medicine pays close attention to the biodiversity of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and has established and implemented eight key strategies for protecting the plateau’s biodiversity. As of the end of 2020, Qizheng Tibetan Medicine had set up wild-cultivation bases covering over 110,736 mu in high-altitude, cold-climate areas—the original habitats of Tibetan medicinal herbs—and successfully mastered artificial cultivation techniques that have transformed 32 endangered Tibetan medicinal species from wild to cultivated varieties. At the same time, the company purchases medicinal herbs from local farmers and herders at protected prices (higher than market prices), guiding them to harvest these herbs strictly according to sustainable harvesting methods. In 2020, the company began exploring research on using Himalayan jasmine to combat land desertification.
When the epidemic broke out, Qizheng Tibetan Medicine swiftly mobilized and rushed to Wuhan at a moment’s notice, donating medicines to the frontline in the city. Always prepared for action, the company promptly resumed production and manufacturing of drugs essential for epidemic prevention and control. By the end of 2020, Qizheng Tibetan Medicine had donated symptomatic medicines, epidemic prevention supplies, and funds totaling 6.7 million yuan to medical aid organizations at all levels and relevant departments responsible for epidemic prevention and control.
As a representative and promoter of corporate social responsibility among China’s small and medium-sized enterprises, Qizheng Tibetan Medicine has always firmly believed that the true value of a company lies in meeting societal needs and addressing social issues.
