From “solo performances” to “collaborative development”—Gansu Longyao Industry Association Established

Lanzhou, Gansu, Xinhua Net, February 23 (Reporter Wang Yanming) — To foster and strengthen the Longyao pharmaceutical industry, Gansu’s pharmaceutical companies have shifted from “going it alone” to “collaborative development.” On the 23rd, the Gansu Longyao Industry Association was established in Lanzhou.
Lei Jufang, the first president of the Gansu Longyao Industry Association, introduced that most Longyao enterprises, due to their small scale, weak risk resistance, and difficulty in obtaining financing, are facing challenges in scientific research and development, technological upgrades, capacity expansion, and overall growth. They urgently need a major transformation aimed at integrating resources, scaling up operations, and cultivating brands. The newly established Gansu Longyao Industry Association will play a leading role in accelerating the construction of industrial bases and extending industrial chains, providing information technology training and services, establishing and maintaining brands, strengthening market promotion, and fostering international exchanges and cooperation.
Gansu Province is a major producer of Chinese medicinal materials in China. Currently, the cultivated area for time-honored Chinese herbs such as Angelica sinensis, Codonopsis pilosula, and Astragalus (yellow or red) has reached over 2.5 million mu, placing Gansu among the top provinces nationwide in terms of cultivation scale. At the same time, leveraging its abundant resources of Chinese medicinal materials, Gansu’s pharmaceutical enterprises have experienced rapid growth. As of now, there are more than 160 enterprises holding drug production licenses, including 17 enterprises with assets exceeding 50 million yuan. Qizheng Tibetan Medicine, Lanzhou Foci, and Duyiwei have become listed companies on the A-share market in China.
Lei Jufang introduced that the newly established Gansu Province Longyao Industry Association was initiated by companies including Gansu Qizheng Tibetan Medicine Co., Ltd., Lanzhou Institute of Biological Products, and Lanzhou Foci Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Currently, it has attracted 67 pharmaceutical enterprises to join.
