On April 25, 2015, Nepal was struck by a powerful earthquake measuring 8.1 on the Richter scale. The quake also affected counties including Nyalam, Gyirong, and Dingri in the Shigatse region of the Tibet Autonomous Region, causing casualties and damage to public infrastructure. As of now, the disaster has resulted in numerous casualties, damage to residential buildings, and disruptions to road networks.
Immediately after the earthquake, Tibet Qizheng Tibetan Medicine Co., Ltd. established the “Qizheng Tibetan Medicine Lhasa 4.25 Disaster Relief Task Force,” led by Ms. Lei Jufang, Chairwoman of the Board, and co-chaired by Mr. Liu Kailie, President. The task force closely monitors the situation in the affected counties and districts of Tibet and actively responds to the call from the Party Committee, the People’s Government, the Federation of Industry and Commerce, and the Securities Regulatory Bureau of the Tibet Autonomous Region—“When one side is in distress, all sides come to its aid.” The task force coordinates actions across all departments of the company in a unified manner and swiftly and efficiently liaises with relevant government disaster relief organizations in the Tibet Autonomous Region. Given the harsh cold climate, shortage of medical personnel and medicines, and the predominantly Tibetan population in the disaster-stricken areas, the company urgently allocated a special fund of 500,000 yuan as relief supplies for this “April 25 Geological Disaster.” This includes various Tibetan medicine emergency medications worth 300,000 yuan and 200,000 yuan in disaster relief funds. The company will work closely and effectively together to carry out earthquake relief efforts and assist our fellow compatriots in the disaster areas to overcome these difficult times.
Tibet Qizheng Tibetan Medicine Co., Ltd., as an enterprise that has been operating in the Tibetan region for a long time, harbors deep affection for our fellow Tibetans. Throughout its 20-year development, the company has consistently focused on using technological innovation to drive the modernization of the Tibetan medicine industry, paid great attention to environmental protection and talent cultivation in ethnic minority regions, and advocated cultural integration and harmonious co-development with these regions. As of 2014, the company had cumulatively paid 1.082 billion yuan in taxes in Tibet, and tax payments remain the company’s primary means of giving back to the Tibetan region. In 2007, the company established a special fund for “Tibetan Cultural Heritage Preservation and Protection,” into which it has invested nearly 90 million yuan to date. In the face of major natural disasters in the Tibetan region, the company has also fully leveraged its expertise to carry out efficient, sustained, and targeted relief efforts. Following the Yushu earthquake in Qinghai in 2010, the company’s rescue team rushed to the disaster area at the earliest opportunity to begin relief operations. The team persevered in the disaster zone for 44 days, providing Tibetan medical treatment and dispensing Tibetan medicines to more than 5,000 people. Additionally, the team distributed supplies to over 1,800 particularly vulnerable households—including lonely elderly, persons with disabilities, and orphans—donating a total of nearly 4.9 million yuan worth of supplies, medicines, and cash to the Yushu disaster area.
