Qizheng Tibetan Medicine Honored as a “2021 National Demonstration Enterprise for Technological Innovation”

Recently, the National Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the list of 2021 National Demonstration Enterprises for Technological Innovation, and Qizheng Tibetan Medicine was the only enterprise from the Tibet Autonomous Region to receive this recognition.
A National Demonstration Enterprise for Technological Innovation is an enterprise recognized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology as having outstanding technological innovation capabilities, remarkable innovation achievements, and significant demonstration and guiding roles in key areas of manufacturing. Among the 58 enterprises recognized as National Demonstration Enterprises for Technological Innovation in 2021, six were pharmaceutical companies. Qizheng Tibetan Medicine was the only ethnic medicine enterprise among them to receive this recognition.
Since its establishment 26 years ago, Qizheng Tibetan Medicine has been committed to the inheritance and innovation of traditional Tibetan medicine. Adhering to a research-and-development innovation model that integrates production, education, and research, the company leverages platforms such as the National Enterprise Technology Center, the National-Local Joint Engineering Laboratory, and high-tech enterprises. Over the years, it has successively undertaken key projects under the national “11th Five-Year” Science and Technology Support Program, as well as major science and technology special projects during the “12th Five-Year” and “13th Five-Year” plans, and more than 30 provincial and ministerial-level scientific research projects. The company has also been granted 116 invention patents.
For many years, the company has been dedicated to the R&D of new products and the secondary development of time-honored Tibetan medicines. Currently, four products are undergoing clinical trials at various stages; among them, one has already completed Phase III clinical trials and is expected to submit applications for manufacturing licenses and new drug certificates in 2022. Focusing on strategically important flagship products, the company is pursuing a strategic goal of "one axis, two wings, and three pillars." This involves clearly defining the clinical positioning of each product, deepening theoretical research on Tibetan medicine, exploring the material basis and mechanisms of action of these products, enhancing quality standards, optimizing formulation processes, ensuring the sustainable supply of raw materials, facilitating market access, and building up evidence-based support through academic marketing—all to thoroughly advance the secondary development of these products. By doing so, the company aims to cultivate varieties with strong market potential, fully unlock the clinical, scientific, and commercial value of its products, and further enhance both the technological competitiveness of its products and its overall enterprise competitiveness.
