Qizheng Tibetan Medicine Wins the “Science and Technology Progress Award” from the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce.

The “Industrialization of Qizheng Tibetan Medicine’s Pain-Relieving Plaster” project recently received the “2009 China National Federation of Industry and Commerce Science and Technology Progress Award.” This year’s CNFIC Science and Technology Awards recognized a total of 90 projects. Private enterprises, technological leaders within these enterprises, and private entrepreneurs who have achieved outstanding results in original innovation, integrated innovation, introducing, digesting, absorbing, and re-innovating, as well as in the commercialization and industrialization of scientific and technological achievements—thus generating significant economic or social benefits—were honored.
As a recommending body for the “National Science and Technology Progress Award,” the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce has established the ACFC Science and Technology Award, which is primarily aimed at private enterprises. This initiative carries special significance and will lay a solid foundation for nominating outstanding achievements in China’s science and technology sector for the country’s highest award—the “National Science and Technology Progress Award.” Judging from the current number of National Science and Technology Progress Awards received, the proportion held by private enterprises still lags behind their status and role in the national economy. Although some private enterprises have developed high-level technological achievements, they often find it difficult to be recommended—mainly due to poor information flow, inadequate communication channels, and limitations imposed by local and departmental quota systems.
