Recently, the Qizheng Tibetan Medicine brand’s advertisement made its debut on the Nasdaq digital billboard in Times Square, New York, marking the first time a Chinese ethnic medicine brand has been showcased there. As a leading domestic Tibetan medicine enterprise, Qizheng Tibetan Medicine is committed to becoming “a modern inheritor of the millennia-old Tibetan medicinal tradition.” In recent years, the company has also actively pursued internationalization; its products entered overseas markets as early as 2003. In 2013, Qizheng Tibetan Medicine further collaborated with Professor David Christiani of Harvard University—a renowned international expert in occupational disease research—to establish the “Harvard University Professor David Christiani-Qizheng Tibetan Medicine Research Laboratory,” focusing on the role and expansion of Tibetan medicine in addressing major diseases from a global perspective.
It is reported that currently, 4 billion people worldwide use traditional Chinese medicine products, and the global market for traditional Chinese medicine has reached an annual turnover of nearly 500 billion yuan. Traditional Chinese medicine has been exported to 168 countries and regions, with Asia being the primary export market and the United States ranking as the second-largest market. At present, about 5% of patients in the U.S. take natural medicines, including traditional Chinese medicine. Across the U.S., there are approximately 12,000 pharmacies—ranging from specialized Chinese medicine stores to combined Chinese-Western medicine shops or health product stores selling traditional Chinese medicine—whose annual sales exceed 2 billion U.S. dollars.
