Recently, Tibet Qizheng Tibetan Medicine Co., Ltd. released its "2013 Corporate Social Responsibility Report." This is the company's fifth report since it first voluntarily published a corporate social responsibility report in 2009.
Qizheng Tibetan Medicine is a private enterprise that originated in western China and specializes in ethnic medicine and the health industry. From its inception, the company has deeply embraced the “balance of righteousness and profit, with profit taking precedence” ethos of the Guangcai Cause, pursuing development-oriented poverty alleviation in the Tibetan areas of western China through primarily project-based investments supplemented by charitable donations. While driving economic development in ethnic regions, the company has also achieved remarkable progress. In 2013, Qizheng Tibetan Medicine recorded total operating revenue of 969 million yuan and for the first time exceeded 200 million yuan in tax payments in the Tibet region. The company employs 1,452 people, with offices located in Beijing, Lhasa and Nyingchi in Tibet, Lanzhou, Longxi, and Gannan in Gansu Province, and Jingyuan in Ningxia.
As a key high-tech enterprise under the National Torch Program, a nationally recognized Enterprise Technology Center, one of the first batch of National Innovative Enterprises, and the Tibetan Medicine Engineering Technology Center of the Tibet Autonomous Region, Qizheng Tibetan Medicine has consistently provided the market with valuable and meaningful products. At the same time, Qizheng Tibetan Medicine regards “inheritance” and “innovation” as the most critical core elements in fulfilling its corporate social responsibility. While achieving rapid development itself, the company is committed to becoming a leader and practitioner in the Tibetan medicine industry, continuously pursuing innovation in R&D, technology, and quality standards, thereby promoting the integration of regional ethnic medicines with the broader Chinese pharmaceutical market and continually enhancing the quality of modern Tibetan medicines. Qizheng Tibetan Medicine also persistently carries out secondary development of classic Tibetan medicine prescriptions, meeting the expectations of both the market and patients, and driving the development of the Tibetan medicine industry through its contributions to the market.
Focus on the sustainable management of resources and the environment.
As a national pharmaceutical enterprise originating from the southeastern Tibetan Plateau, Qizheng Tibetan Medicine deeply understands the importance of sustainable resource and environmental management. While minimizing the environmental impact of its own products, the company consistently focuses on biodiversity conservation and actively leverages modern technological means to enhance the efficiency of resource utilization in contemporary Tibetan medicine. It engages in wild cultivation and artificial domestication of Tibetan medicinal materials right from the source, conducts extensive efforts to clarify the authentic origins of Tibetan medicinal herbs, and strives for a balanced development between resources and industry. As of 2013, Qizheng Tibetan Medicine had completed surveys on dozens of key medicinal material resources used by the company and formulated detailed resource utilization plans. The company has conducted field investigations into the status of certain traditional Tibetan medicinal resources and carried out baseline identification of several Tibetan herbs. In new drug development and secondary development, the company prioritizes optimal formulations and promotes rational resource utilization from the very beginning. It strictly prohibits the exploitation and use of endangered Tibetan flora and fauna; resource bottlenecks serve as grounds for rejecting new drug development proposals; the company favors prescriptions that require small dosages and are easy to use; and based on pharmacological efficacy, it selects processing techniques that maximize the utilization rate of medicinal materials while respecting clinical convenience and therapeutic effectiveness. Moreover, the company actively promotes the research and application of substitutes for endangered Tibetan medicinal resources.
In the development of its medicinal herb business, Qizheng Tibetan Medicine is committed to promoting the standardization of cultivation of authentic medicinal herbs from the northwest region and has established a comprehensive quality-control chain. With the goal of protecting and improving the ecological environment and achieving sustainable development, the company is stepping up its selection of cultivation bases at the source, strictly adhering to all green-production requirements in field management, and actively restoring and protecting soils that have been excessively contaminated by pesticides.

In 2013, managers from local backgrounds accounted for 33% of the company’s senior management team.
The company encourages and facilitates Tibetan employees to work in inland areas and Han Chinese employees to work in Tibetan regions, providing them with supportive working conditions and benefits. Dedicated to preserving Tibetan culture

In 2013, the total amount donated by the “Tibetan Culture Inheritance and Preservation” special fund exceeded 14.27 million yuan, supporting the implementation of 20 projects.
Over the past two decades, Qizheng Tibetan Medicine has focused on addressing specific social development challenges by combining inheritance with innovation.
