Recently, Ms. Feng Ping, our company’s Vice President and Board Secretary, was invited to attend the seminar titled “Corporate Responsibility in the Age of the UN Guiding Principles: Managing Human Rights Impacts and Building Social License.” She delivered a keynote speech entitled “We Progress Together with Tibet,” sharing the company’s experiences and insights in implementing human rights principles and promoting sustainable development in ethnic minority regions. Her remarks received high praise from the attending experts and scholars.
In his speech, General Manager Feng pointed out that Qizheng Tibetan Medicine, as a modern Tibetan medicine enterprise that draws on the wisdom of ancient Tibetan medical traditions and upholds the philosophy of brilliance, has its origins in Linzhi, Tibet. Over the course of its 19-year development journey, the company has championed “value first,” adhered to the core values of “doing good for others and pursuing righteous conduct,” and actively and continuously fulfilled its corporate social responsibilities. The company’s practice of human rights principles in ethnic minority regions primarily unfolds at two levels: The first level involves integrating innovative elements into traditional industries, thereby creating and commercializing value—a key aspect of corporate social responsibility for local enterprises. The second level focuses on safeguarding employees’ rights and fostering talent development. Specifically, this includes paying attention to employees’ quality of life, promoting talent growth, and respecting ethnic cultures. Thanks to its long-term commitment to human rights principles, the company has not only established itself as a dual industry leader in both the Chinese Tibetan medicine market and the topical pain-relief market but has also earned numerous accolades, including titles such as National Model Enterprise for Harmonious Labor Relations, Model Employee Home, National Advanced Enterprise for Mutual Love and Evaluation, and Outstanding Private Entrepreneur Caring for Employees.
It is reported that this seminar is part of the “China Responsible Business Forum” (CRBF), which is jointly initiated and organized by the UN Global Compact China Network, Peking University, the Global Business & Human Rights Initiative, the Institute for Human Rights and Business, and Tracktwo. The CRBF is a series of seminars aimed at enhancing Chinese businesses’ understanding of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs). Its purpose is to strengthen Chinese companies’ knowledge, capacity, and leadership in implementing the UNGPs. This seminar provided participating parties with an excellent opportunity to exchange practical experiences, challenges, and sustainable business solutions with experts and peers from related fields. At the seminar, our company joined over 40 representatives from well-known Chinese and international enterprises—including China Minmetals, China Steel, Huawei, Nestlé, Motorola, Hitachi, H&M, and CITIC Construction—as well as social responsibility experts, to share and discuss compelling case studies and best practices in human rights risk management and gaining social license. In addition, participants engaged in thorough exchanges and discussions on topics such as social responsibility and localized management in overseas operations.
