From a small factory with fewer than 100 employees and specializing primarily in a single topical ointment, to a publicly listed company with nearly 2,000 employees and annual sales approaching 1 billion yuan, Qizheng Tibetan Medicine Co., Ltd. has taken 20 years to achieve this transformation. To date, Qizheng Tibetan Medicine has accumulated a total of 143 patents, setting numerous industry firsts in the field of Tibetan medicine and helping to bring this ancient medicinal tradition into the daily lives of modern people.
Due to factors such as small-batch and multi-batch manual production, traditional Tibetan medicines generally suffer from common issues including variations in pill weight, excessive moisture content, elevated bacterial counts, and poor disintegration properties. Over the past 20 years, Qizheng Tibetan Medicine has continuously innovated in dosage forms, R&D, technology, quality standards, and manufacturing processes. It has independently developed an integrated device for producing medicinal cores and patches tailored specifically for its pain-relieving plaster formulations, enabling standardized, automated, and large-scale production with a tenfold increase in capacity. By adopting new excipients that meet modern formulation requirements, vacuum emulsification technology, and advanced drug-crushing methods, Qizheng has pioneered the modernization of Tibetan medicine ointment formulations. Moreover, automated core-making and film-coating technologies have transformed the traditional appearance and characteristics of Tibetan medicine pills, resulting in pills with high dissolution rates of active ingredients, short disintegration times, smooth pill surfaces, and consistent pill weights—thus resolving key bottlenecks that had previously hindered the development of Tibetan medicine. Furthermore, by employing hot-press coating technology, Qizheng has achieved environmentally friendly production of rubber plasters while significantly reducing raw material and auxiliary ingredient costs. To date, Qizheng Tibetan Medicine has obtained a total of 107 invention patents, 16 utility model patents, and 20 design patents.
Qizheng Tibetan Medicine also employs modern medical research methods to conduct pharmacological and efficacy studies as well as evidence-based medicine validation on Tibetan medicines. Focusing on its core product, the Xiaotong Paste, the company has undertaken 13 scientific research projects aimed at elucidating the transdermal, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory mechanisms underlying this formulation. These studies have explored the mechanisms behind the potent analgesic effects of Xiaotong Paste and, for the first time both domestically and internationally, revealed the neurobiological mechanisms underlying the external therapeutic pain relief provided by Tibetan medicines.
