　　The 4th National Congress of Members and the 1st Session of the 4th Council of the China Guangcai Cause Promotion Association concluded today in Beijing.

　　The meeting reviewed and approved the work report of the 3rd Council of the China Association for Promoting Public Welfare, reviewed and approved the draft amendment to the Articles of Association of the China Association for Promoting Public Welfare, and elected the leadership body of the 4th Council of the China Association for Promoting Public Welfare. Du Qinglin, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, was re-elected as President of the China Association for Promoting Public Welfare. Yang Qiru also serves as the secretary-general. The meeting also elected 120 executive directors.

　　At the closing ceremony, Quan Zhezhu, Deputy Minister of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and First Vice Chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and Vice President of the China Association for Promoting Public Welfare, stated that the new board of directors of the China Association for Promoting Public Welfare shoulders a glorious mission and bears great responsibilities. Faced with new circumstances and tasks, we must earnestly enhance our sense of urgency and responsibility, comprehensively strengthen our own development, and, in the spirit of reform and innovation, innovate our working approaches. We should focus on accelerating the transformation of our economic development model and pay even greater attention to safeguarding and improving people’s livelihoods. 　　Regarding how to fulfill one’s responsibilities and set a good example, Quan Zhezhu put forward three points of advice. First, the directors of the Guangcai Association must be individuals worthy of the name “Guangcai.” Products reflect one’s character, and how one conducts oneself determines how one acts. To be an effective director of the Guangcai Association, the key lies in being a person of integrity and virtue.

　　Second, the directors of the Guangcai Association should run enterprises that embody the spirit of Guangcai. To contribute to the Guangcai cause in society, it is essential first that the enterprises themselves shine with integrity and virtue. During this year’s Two Sessions, General Secretary Hu Jintao, when attending the joint meeting of members from the China National Democratic Construction Association and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce at the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, expressed his earnest hope for the vast number of non-public-owned enterprises, calling on them to “achieve even greater accomplishments” in three key areas and explicitly emphasizing the need to deepen the Guangcai cause and make greater contributions to promoting common prosperity. The “three areas of greater achievement” represent a deepening and development of the “two healthy” principles under the new circumstances, and they also serve as the goals and standards for running “Guangcai enterprises” effectively. First, we must strive to achieve even greater results in accelerating the transformation of our economic development model. Second, we must strive to achieve even greater results in safeguarding and improving people’s livelihoods. Third, we must strive to achieve even greater results in enhancing our own quality and capabilities.

　　Third, the directors of the Guangcai Association should dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to the Guangcai cause. As key members of the Guangcai Association, these directors are the driving force behind the sustainable development of the Guangcai cause. They should earnestly put the Guangcai spirit into practice, actively engage in the Guangcai cause, and strive to ensure that Guangcai projects generate more material wealth, Guangcai activities create greater spiritual wealth, and the Guangcai team produce more exemplary individuals. First, they should actively invest in Guangcai projects; second, they should vigorously promote the Guangcai spirit; and third, they should enthusiastically participate in Guangcai activities.

　　Finally, Quan Zhezhu stated that our country is currently undergoing a profound transformation aimed at accelerating the shift in its economic development model. The opportunities for the Guangcai Cause are unprecedented, yet so are the challenges. We hope that the new board of directors of the China Guangcai Cause Promotion Association, under the correct leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Hu Jintao as General Secretary, will stay focused on the central tasks, serve the overall situation, consistently uphold the宗旨 of the Guangcai Cause, vigorously promote the Guangcai spirit, liberate our minds, seek truth from facts, and advance with the times, thus making new and greater contributions to fully building a moderately prosperous society and realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation!
