Nine key tasks for the development of Tibetan medicine have been identified.

The "Opinions of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine on Supporting the Development of Tibetan Medicine in the Tibet Autonomous Region" were officially released recently, outlining nine key tasks for the development of Tibetan medicine.
The nine key tasks outlined in the “Opinions” include establishing and improving Tibet’s Tibetan medicine service system, enhancing the capacity and quality of Tibetan medicine services, strengthening the development of Tibetan medicine talent teams, promoting the inheritance and innovation of Tibetan medicine science and technology, conducting research on the protection and utilization of Tibetan medicinal resources and the protection of Tibetan medicine intellectual property rights, strengthening the construction of Tibetan medicine laws and standards, enhancing the cultural development of Tibetan medicine, expanding external exchanges and cooperation in Tibetan medicine, and formulating the “12th Five-Year Plan” for the development of Tibetan medicine.
Tibetan medicine is currently one of the most comprehensive and influential ethnic medical systems in China. It has evolved over a long period through the Tibetan people’s rich production and daily life practices in harsh natural environments, drawing on the strengths of traditional Chinese medicine, ancient Indian medicine, and ancient Arab medicine, and gradually accumulating and refining its unique characteristics into a traditional medical system with a complete theoretical framework and abundant clinical experience. Having been passed down on the snowy plateau for more than 2,000 years, Tibetan medicine continues to enjoy great popularity among people in the vast agricultural and pastoral regions of Tibet today.
As one of Tibet’s distinctive pillar industries, Tibetan medicine has evolved from artisanal workshops to industrial-scale production, and a relatively complete Tibetan medicine industry system has now taken shape. Currently, the number of Tibetan medicine enterprises in the region has grown to 18, all of which have obtained national GMP certification and are capable of producing over 360 different Tibetan medicinal products, among which 298 varieties have been granted National Drug Approval Numbers.
