Gansu is a major province in China for the cultivation of Chinese medicinal materials. Currently, the five major categories of Chinese medicinal materials—Angelica sinensis, Codonopsis pilosula, Astragalus membranaceus (yellow and red varieties), Rheum officinale, and Glycyrrhiza uralensis—account for 90%, 60%, 50%, 50%, and 25% respectively of the nation’s total output of their respective varieties. Moreover, Gansu’s export volume of these medicinal materials exceeds 80% of the national total. Relying on its abundant resources of Chinese medicinal materials, pharmaceutical enterprises in Gansu have experienced rapid growth in recent years. At present, there are over 160 enterprises holding drug production licenses, including 17 enterprises with assets exceeding 50 million yuan. Qizheng Tibetan Medicine, Lanzhou Foci, and Duyiwei have become listed companies on China’s A-share market. To foster and strengthen the Longyao pharmaceutical industry, the Gansu Longyao Industry Association announced its establishment on the 23rd in Lanzhou.
The United States Chinese Medicine Association was established in 1984. It is a non-profit organization that brings together importers, distributors, agents, retailers, and wholesalers of Chinese medicinal products, primarily operating in Northern California. It is also one of the most influential professional Chinese-American organizations in the United States.
To promote the development of the Chinese medicinal herb industry in Gansu Province, on that day, the Gansu Longyao Industry Association also signed strategic cooperation framework agreements separately with the Taiwan Agricultural Merchants Association, the Pharmaceutical Industry Chamber of Commerce of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and the Guangdong-Gansu Chamber of Commerce.
